Emergency Resources

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Disaster Services
Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs. The core of Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to individuals and families affected by disaster to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.

International Service
International Services initiatives focus on primary health care, emergency response and preparedness, restoring family links, and the dissemination of international humanitarian law.

Blood Services
The American Red Cross delivers a wide range of high quality blood products and blood donor and patient testing services. They bring expertise in transfusion medicine and dedication to meeting the customers' needs.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

The primary mission of the FEMA is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the Nation from all hazards by leading and supporting the Nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.

Recover and Rebuild
It includes information on things to do immediately after a disaster and precautions to take when returning home.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

CDC provides online source for credible health information, including diseases & conditions, emergency preparedness & response, injury, violence & safety, and workplace safety & health.

Emergency Preparedness & Response
CDC and the American Red Cross have teamed up to answer common questions and provide step by step guidance you can take now to protect you and your loved ones.

Injury, Violent & Safety
CDC provides information about preventing injury and violence, safety at work, home, on the go, and at play.

World Health Organization (WHO)

WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

Emergencies
It provides information about health action in crisis, environmental health in emergencies, emergency preparedness and risk management, etc.

National Resource Center

The mission of the National Resource Center is to serve as a central clearinghouse of resources and an information exchange portal to facilitate communication, networking and collaboration to improve preparedness, build resilience and eliminate disparities for culturally diverse communities across all phases of an emergency.

Phase of Emergency
National Resource Center utilizes 8 categories to catalog and organize resources for users to easily identify information within their specific area of interest.

Risk Communication
Crisis and emergency risk communication is the attempt by science or public health professionals to provide information that allows an individual, stakeholders or an entire community, to make the best possible decisions about their well-being, under nearly impossible time constraints, and to communicate those decisions, while accepting the imperfect nature of their choices

Language Access Services
Language Access Services refers to the need for individuals and organizations responding to emergencies to ensure the availability of linguistically appropriate services.

Food Defense & Emergency Response

Preparation and Prevention
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) conducts vulnerability assessments of these food systems. Based upon its assessments, FSIS develops countermeasures to protect the food supply.

It provides a list of associate government emergency organizations.
